African American History
African American History Project:
Introduction:
Contributions to the building of this great nation can be credited to many outstanding citizens. However, there is a single group of Americans who literally built this nation with their blood, sweat and tears. From the barbaric forced labor of slavery, to countless inventions and institutions, African Americans have made significant contributions to the development of the United States.
The Task:
By unlocking the door to the past, you will learn the essential role African Americans played in the development of our nation. You will spend time researching an individual who you feel you have a connection with. That connection will lead you to discovering the extraordinary contributions that individual made to our society.
The Process:
- Utilizing the research links, choose an individual who you believe you have a connection.
- Construct a strong paragraph that explains your reasoning for your choice.
- Compose a list of facts, in chronological order, that assist you in demonstrating your individual’s contribution to society.
- Compose a list of five character traits you believe your individual possesses. (Have a detailed reason for why you chose each trait. )
Research Links
Dear classmates,
While I was doing my 5 facts about the person I chose to do, I couldn’t think of some good character traits. Isabelle had looked up on the computer: Character traits, I thought that was a good idea so I also did it. If you look up http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/sites/default/files/posts/u133/pdfs/list_of_character_traits.pdf
you will find the list.
Sincerely,
Gianna Sacco

Dear Darian,
I found a website based on ONLY Jesse Owens. It is http://www.jesseowens.com. It is a great resource to find information. I hope it helps you.

Dear Darien and Julianna,
When I was researching Jackie Robinson,I found interesting fact about his brother Matthew Robinson. It stated that Matthew Robinson actually came in second place in the 200-meter dash.Right behind Jesse Owens and this happened in the Olympics 1936.I thought this fact was very interesting and important to tell you both.
Sincerely,
Isabelle Baginski
Dear, Isabelle
I acknowledged your comment and would like an add on to it. I believe that Olympics was in Berlin, Germany (which is the capital of Germany).
Sincerely,
Darien
