  1. Dear Mr. Miller and Mrs. Halloran,
I am so glad I had you as my teacher last year. You helped me far into my first year at Saxton. I hope you, your family, Mrs. Halloran, Mrs. Hallorans family and your 2019-2020 class are doing amazing.
    Sincerely,
    Madilyn k Hoiland

    1. Dear Madilyn,
It is nice to hear from you. Thank you for your kind words of appreciation. We are doing well and had no doubt that you would be prepared for your first year of middle school. Take good care of yourself as you engage in learning opportunities from home. We wish you and your family the very best.
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Halloran and Mr. Miller

  2. Dear Mrs. Halloran/Mr. Miller, I had a question about our online learning. Since we are using the post on Microsoft Teams, will we still be able to reach you using the Blog? Or are you utilizing the Mircosoft Teams platform from now on, since we are participating in online learning?

I await your response soon, sincerely Jordan Caceres

    1. Dear Jordan,
Thank you for you kind Easter wishes to us all. Throughout this time of learning from home, you are welcome to continue utilizing our class website. We encourage you to communicate with your cohort members and peers on the blog. You are responsible for logging on to Microsoft Teams daily and completing assignments posted within that platform. However, this class website is an opportunity for you to enhance your learning opportunities. When you have a moment, take a look at new components added to our site. They are the Exploration of Thought and Feedback Center. You are welcome to engage in writing at anytime. If you post your thoughts in the Feedback Center, Mr. Miller or I will engage in the feedback loop with you. I hope you and your family enjoyed your Easter together as well.
      Take care,
      Mrs. Halloran

  3. Dear Mr.Miller,

  5. Dear Mrs.Halloran,
On the day before school was closed I did not take my rally books from my cohort. Is there any possible way to get both books online?

  6. Dear Mr. Miller, Mrs. Halloran, and fellow peers,
Throughout the day I found the explanation about striving harder with more effort and care, as well as, presenting our optimal level beneficial, because it shows me how I should be trying harder, because this year is like a waterfall, going very fast and how everyone in Cognitiveunderstandia should be cherishing these moments because this is something that we probably will never receive later in our academic career. This is why Cognitiveunderstandia should stay as twelve states because like you and Mrs. Halloran said everyone has a voice which can make a difference and I believe those words have great meaning and value because it shows how everyone in Cognitiveunderstandia can change in their paths and sustain their states with care and love. Through everyone in Cognitiveunderstandia utilizing their voices they all can lead in the best way as possible without reminders, everyone just needs a second chance to prove how well they can lead their states. The states in Cognitiveunderstandia should be twelve not ten, eight or less because we all are life- long learner whom bring success through mistakes.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Varghese

    1. Dear Emily,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. You demonstrate attributes of a true leader and your commitment to growing as a life-long learner is admirable. The effort and care you put forth in both your own progress and the well being of Cognitiveunderstandia is noticed.
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Halloran

  7. Dear Mrs.Halloran,
I would like to continue my job as Governor for Old Baltimore Banneker.
    Sincerely, Jayson

    1. Dear Jayson,
Thank you for sharing your wishes to grow as a life-learner and leader.
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Halloran

  8. Dear Cognitiveunderstandia, Mr.Miller and Mrs.Halloran,
Today was my first day of school, at Cold Spring, and it is a nice school, but I just wanted to say the amount of money in my personal account would be 85,600, and will be divided equally among the states.
    Sincerelly,
    Naomi Amatuegwu

    1. Dear Naomi,

Thank you for providing your account balance and expressing your wish to share it equally with the states; they will certainly appreciate the gesture. Enjoy your new learning environment; I am certain you will find success in every endeavor you engage.

      All the Best,
      Mr. Miller

    2. Dear Mr. Miller and Mrs. Halloran,

As a student I do agree that it is unfair students don’t take advantage of our resources around us in Cognitiveunderstandia. The statement that both of you gave today inspired me to put care into everything I do. Now I’m going to improve upon my efforts as a governor. I apologize if I was not putting in full effort before. I will be sure to improve upon that.

      My greatest apologies,
      Jillian Clemenza

      1. Dear Jillian,

Thank you for your kind words and commitment to grow as a life-long learner.

        Sincerely,
        Mr. Miller

      2. Dear Jillian,
Thank you for taking the time to share your shift in thinking with us. It is my hope that both you and your cohort will benefit from your decision to put forth more effort and care. Remember, “Your deeds are your monuments.”
        Sincerely,
        Mrs. Halloran

  9. Dear Mrs. Halloran,
I have a question about the PEMDAS assignment. My question is are we supposed to do the self check quiz at home on the my math website, or are we going to do it in school?

    Sincerely,
    Lily Quinn

    1. Dear Lily,
You are responsible for completing your PEMDAS assignment on MyMath from home. You may set up your calculations in your math notebook, but your answers are to be entered online. Be certain to compose your plan for balancing all accounts in Cognitveunderstandia. Tomorrow you will need to present your detailed plan to our president. Once your plan is approved, you’ll begin implementing your new system to ensure that all accounts are maintained accurately.
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Halloran

  10. Dear Mr.Miller,
I am writing because I have submitted a quiz on the my math page on accident and was wondering if you could send back the quiz on that was due on January 12th and it was dealing with decimals. Please, thank you.

    sincerely,
    Peyton.M

  11. Dear Mr.Miller,
I haven’t been back on this website for a while and I wanted to check in and say hello! I started high school this year and its been tough but my studies are good. I’m not sure if you still remember me, but I was your student in 2016. I don’t have much time right now but good luck to your new class!

    Sincerely,
    Olina Zheng

    1. Dear Olina,

Of course I remember you; your diligence and commitment to your fifth grade experience was impressive.
Hope this note finds you well. It is hard to believe that you have entered the high school portion of your academic journey. However, there is no doubt that you will excel.
      Wishing you all the best!

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  12. Dear Peers,

Today I have given the role of taking care of the Tower Garden with my cohort: East Abolitionist Truthinora. My cohort and I are very excited to study and take care of the Tower Garden for Cognitiveunderstandia. Wish us luck!

  13. Dear Peers and Mr Miller,
I would like you honest opinion on a Wonder precept I chose. My goal was to get better at collaboration, so the precept I chose was “No man is an island, entire of itself.” By John Donne. I am thinking of choosing it but I believe I need some opinions first. 😁

    Yours Truly,
    Maryann Espinal

  14. Dear Peers,

I hope all of you including Mr.Miller and Mrs.Halloran have a safe and happy thanksgiving.

    From,
    Peyton.M

  15. Dear Mr. Miller,

First off, I would like to thank you for the preperation you have provided me with for middle school and highscool. Fifth grade has been a year I have looked back at and appreciated the knowledge I gained in that class. On the other hand, I have noticed that my sister Naomi has taking a liking to your class. She comes home everyday and can’t stop talking about school. Everytime I explain something to her and say “um” she gets highly offended, even as i write this she’s looking over my shoulder, screaming and sputtering at me for just typing it. Most of all, the reason I was inspired to write this (besides the fact that she told me to) was because I asked her to help me study vocabulary for my geometry quiz tomorrow, and when I struggled to recall the vocabulary, she would hand the sheet back to me and say, “Go back and study, then come back when you’re ready.” I was taken aback because I can remember you saying this to me in similar situations. In conclusion, even though she’s getting really annoying, I’d like to thank you for helping my sister reach for the stars.

    Sincerely,
    Makayla Amatuegwu

    1. Dear Makayla,

It is my sincere hope that this reply finds you doing well and excelling in all your academic endeavors. I wanted to take a moment to extend my appreciation for the kind sentiments expressed in your post.

It is always nice to read that students are building those neural connections essential to fostering long-term memory and enhanced skill development. I am pleased to know that Naomi is promoting such strategies at home in your preparation for the quiz. Best wishes in demonstrating your understanding of geometry; I am sure you will do well.

      All the Best,
      Mr. Miller

  16. Dear Mrs. Halloran,

It is a pleasure to have you back in cognitiveunderstandia. It is not cognitiveuunderstandia without you. I’m looking forward to seeing you again tomorrow in class.

    From, Peyton.M

  17. Dear peers,
As you know we had worked on “Wonder” precepts and as I shared with Mr. miller you can selct a precept and set a goal and connect them easily. The one way you connect them easily is you can decompose and then compose. For instance I found a precept by Reinhold Niebuhr “Love is like a river, never ending as it flows, but gets greater with time.”-Reinhold Niebuhr; lets say my goal was to improve in writing, I could say, “Love is like a river,” connects with my goal because I love to write and I believe when I write my words and passion for writing flows onto the paper. I could explain more about how and why I feel this way about writing but I will just continue the steps. “Never ending as it flows,” could mean your love for writing will always be with you. Again you could go deeper in your writing but I won’t. Then you could talk about how “but gets greater in time.” just like your understanding your understanding evoles into something better than before.

    Sincereley,
    Naomi Amatuegwu

  18. Dear Mr. Miller,
For my let grow, I choose to pick a precept from Wonder. At first I couldn’t figure out if there was a precept that would go along with my goal. After reading closely, I deciding what precept I wanted. In addition, I thought I could pretend as if I was one of the characters in Wonder and make a precept for Mr. Brown, but the precept was mainly for Auggie. The precept that I wrote was, in life there’s some ups and downs but the best thing in life is cherishing those moments. In the end I created a precept for Mr. Brown that was mainly for Auggie, made a goal and choose a precept from Wonder.
    Sincerely,
    Emily Varghese

  19. Dear Mr.Miller,

How are you my fellow teacher.
I have learned new things in Saxton Middle School. How is your new 5th grade class?

    Sincerly,
    josiah watson

    1. Dear Josiah,

Great to receive your post. I am do well and hope that my post finds you doing well and putting forth the outstanding potential you possess. Thanks for checking in and I wish you success in all you do.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

      1. Dear Mr.Miller

I hope you have a good year with your new 5th grade class and that you encourage them to reach their full potential like you always do.

        Sincerly,
        Josiah Watson

  20. Dear Peers,

I want to say congratulations to all those people who got elected. And congratulations to the people who did not get elected but ran for the position, you guys made so much effort and hard work and you guys are the true leaders. I am proud of all of you… be leaders and be role models to your peers.

    from,
    Peyton.M

  21. Dear Mr. Miller,

I’m very happy that I’m class president, the curiosity I have, to see how our class government will interact as a team, and what the future beholds for me as president is humongous. While I was looking around the website, I saw how cognitiveunderstandia has most of the position placed under a certain section. In addition, I would like to say how much fun I had, and how I’m hoping that that we have another election for the second trimester. To add on, I would like to complement those who presented their speech to the class, and how much courage and leadership they have shown, and even for those who lost, you know that at least someone is appreciating the effort that you put in for election day. In conclusion I wanted to ask you, if we have the small election for the position of class secretary tomorrow and if i dress nice or not? Please answer my question if you are able to do so.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Varghese

    1. Dear Emily,
Congratulations on becoming class president! I believe you deserve the job, and that you gave a fantastic speech today.

      Sincerely,
      Whitney Colfer

  22. Dear Mr. Miller,

For my let grow I took the opportunity to understand what atoms were. In addition I read over my speech for the election tomorrow I found some mistakes, was so glad that I read it over because when I read it to the class it will be perfect. While trying to understand what atoms and elements were, I found out that some of the elements are the ones that keeps us alive such as oxygen that is a key to not making us die. As well atoms are the smallest unit on earth.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Varghese

  23. Dear Mr.Miller,
I have just completed my election speech for tomorrow. At first, I didn’t think I’d want to run for anything. But, I decided to run for Supreme Court Justice over the weekend. I’m happy with my decision of running, and even if I don’t win, I’ll still be happy that I tried and had run through out the process of making my speech, and poster. I’m really looking forward to election day!

    Sincerely,
    Whitney Colfer

  24. Dear Mr. Miller,

I had a question about the election. Is there a restriction of what we should wear? For an example heels or sneakers and is Mrs Halloran and her class joining our class and create a whole class of students that run for a position during the election.

  25. Dear Mrs.Halloran,
I was thinking about the elections and I wonted to know if I can make buttons to give out that say Vote for Ryan president and how big the banner should be so I know so I can make it. I think that is all thank you.
    sincerely,
    Ryan.Gogarty

    1. Dear Ryan,
Being a proactive learner who asks questions about their learning will support you on your quest in becoming a life-long learner. In regards to our Class Election, you may create buttons and a campaign poster to encourage other students to vote for you. The size of the poster is up to you. However, remember to utilize your non-negotiables for writing when you compose your poster and campaign speech. Words are powerful and when communicated effectively, can have a positive influence in persuading others. I wish you the best of luck on this exciting endeavor!
      Sincerely,
      Mrs. Halloran

  26. Dear Mr.Miller,
I was thinking about elections and I was thinking about being Supreme court judge and was not really sure what there job was. Can u tell me what there job is.

  27. Dear Mr. Miller,

When you told me that in compass points I shouldn’t repeat I’m excited and so on, I really tried hard to make all of the cardinal directions the best. While I was at home I took the opportunity to create a better word to start my sentence, and it turned out great. I couldn’t have done this without the inspiration I received from Matthew six word novel. I really complement him for all the effort he’s putting in. Thank you Mr. Miller and Matthew for inspiring me to go to the optimum level.

    Sincerely;
    Emily Varghese

  28. Dear Mr.Miller,

At first when I was learning to decompose a number it was confusing for me, but once I saw the whole picture I understood it. While I looking around the website I found how to decompose a number under the math videos section if any of my peer need help finding the link its right there. In the end my day was very enjoyable with all the new things I learned over the past few weeks I’ve been in your class.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Varghese

  29. Dear Mr.Miller,
I was wondering since we have or had an vocabulary maybe every vocab. word we can have an activity for each word. For instance for “artifact” we could bring in an artifact either important to just you or multiple people. Please consider my idea and maybe if you concur with my idea of disagree we can all come up with new fun ideas that connect to what we shall learn or be learning.

    Yours truly,
    Naomi Amatuegwu

  30. Dear Mr .Miller,

I think that the challenge in the morning about what the difference between knowledge and understanding was a great experience for me, because I received the chance to create ideas with my cohort. As well we went up to chime in and tell are understanding of the two words. In addition when we made a mistake we tried to fix the issue so were learning from what we did wrong. When listening to other cohort they gave more ideas for my cohort to think whether we concur with the other cohorts idea, this way we were developing deepen understanding.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Varghese

    1. Dear Emily,
I agree with what you have stated and I would like to complement you on how wonderfly and beautifully you have stated the sentence(s). The way you have been using the website has been absolutely helpful and wonderful. I really encourage myself and other peers to use the website like you.

      1. Dear Naomi,

Your idea is certainly one to investigate; perhaps you and your peers can further discuss this approach during a Challenge Session. In addition, I would like to thank you for the thoughtful comments you posted in regards to Emily’s thoughts; this is exactly how the blog should be utilized.

        Sincerely,
        Mr.Miller

    2. Dear Emily,

I am pleased that you found the discussion between knowledge and understanding beneficial. Your thoughts demonstrate the importance of effort within our collaborative endeavors; keep being a wonderful example to your peers.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Millert

  31. Dear Mr.Miller,
I am so happy was in your class last year. In Saxton we have went over some subjects you have tought us. It gave us a headstart from others. We all still think of you.
Does your class have states yet? If so who is in Harlowdignitylandia.
    From, Madilyn.H

    1. Dear Madilyn,

I am very pleased that you found your learning opportunities in fifth grade to have prepared you for your transition to Saxton. I am certain that your diligence will serve you well as you progress through the academic year.
As for the states, the students have started the process of understanding government and the state structures. As we move forward, they will continue to develop the structures that were created last year. Have a great week.

      All the Best,
      Mr. Miller

  32. Dear Mr.Miller,

For my let grow I took the opportunity to deepen my understanding in government. I learned that there are three branches the legislative executive and judicial branch, and all of them have a job. The legislative branch is where the house of representatives create law which goes to the senate including the congress too. Then the executive branch discuss if they agree with it or not. If they like it it will go to the judicial branch where they check if it conflicts the constitution if it goes well they make it a law. In my opinion I think this idea of government is very interesting too me. I am really excited that were going to make a classroom government !!!

  33. Dear Mr.Miller,

I wanted to know when are we doing elections for class president (etc.) . I am really excited about it! Please reply.

  34. Dear Mr. Miller,

For my Let Grow I was reading about the ammonia and it says that we should not overfeed, excess leftovers in the tank, correct pH level and normal filtering for the fish. As well ammonia go straight to the gills where the fish inhale oxygen for the body it can cause damage to the fins, kidney, skin and growth. This may effect their swimming. The link on the website was very useful for me because now I have a better understanding of raising fish in the classroom.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Varghese

    1. Dear Emily,

I am impressed by the initiative you have taken to develop your understanding of water chemistry during your Let Grow Day.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  35. Dear Mr.Miller I’m gonna make sure that if I have the time but I’ll try to study about Harriet Tubman and I’m trying to make a continent name and capital. Thank you for letting me choose are capital name. Miller#1

    1. Dear Peyton,

I look forward to the ideas you develop regarding your continent idea and the challenge of developing a capital city for Cognitiveunderstandia.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  36. Dear Mr. Miller,
I just want to share what I did for Let Grow. When my mom got home from shopping, she had a big bag she told me to carry up the stairs. When I got up the stairs I looked in and it had sprinkles and ingredients for confections. I got really excited and asked my mom what we were going to make! Then we made cupcakes together! We made red velvet and vanilla.
    Sincerely, Maryann Espinal

    1. Dear Maryann,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Let Grow Day experience with your peers.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

      1. Dear Mr. Miller,
I went to “learning opportunities at home “ but all I could find was the blog response structure, and if the assignment was there, I couldn’t find it? Could you please help me?

        Sincerely, Maryann Espinal

  37. Dear Mr.Miller,
I am so glad i was in your class last year. It has prepared me as a 6th grader. I hope you will have another great class.
    Sincerely,
    Madilyn Hoiland

    1. Dear Madilyn,

Thank you for taking the time to express your kind thoughts. I am pleased you have found your fifth grade experience to be useful in preparing you for sixth grade. Have a great year !

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  38. Dear Mr. Miller,

I’ve been using the opportunity to finish the S.L.A.N.T. page. My brother, Issac showed me that this should represent my understanding. And, that it should include creativity, as well as fun. Soon, I became very proud of what I made. In fact, I’m bringing my brother’s example for those who need inspiration. Thank you for suggesting us to start this page, and show our understanding.

    Sincerely,
    Emily and Issac Varghese

  39. Dear Mr.Miller,

The information you provided about geodesic structures really helped me because now I know that when I build the gumdrop and toothpick structure the best way to build it is by making mostly triangle and some squares. I learned that its not the best way to build just off of squares because when compression is put against it tends to collapse or change shape. Rather when its a triangle its strong and able to hold a lot of weight.

  40. Dear Mr.Miller,
Hi its me again, I just wanted to say that I read Emily’s comment and she said that she watched the decomposing video and I decided to do the same. It helped me a lot and prepared me for when we will learn to decomposing a number me and Emily will be prepared.

P.S,I will be on this more than I’m supposed too.

  41. Dear Mr.Miller,
I just wanted to let you know that I’m very excited about the geo structure thing. I also think the penny-in-the-middle thing was a BRILLIANT idea. Also, when are we doing the hockey tournament.

  42. Dear Mr.Miller,

I think this will be a great learning website. I think this will be great for me and my class mates. I am very excited to be in your class.

    From,
    Peyton Mulea

  43. Dear Mr.Miller,
    I have a question.

Is the Class Secretary’s job is to put all of computers and tablets in the bag and get the lunch account sheets to the people from the lunch room? Or is that Gina’s job?

    Sincrerily
    Mario Velasquez

  44. Dear, Mr. Miller
My months in Saxton have been one of the best months.I thank you for all of your guidance, time and everything that I thought was for nothing actually had value and I thank you.
    Sincerely,

  46. Dear Oliver,

Thank you for showing me the definition of the word grid

  47. For everyone in the states and capitals group,

I came across a video on YouTube that has really helped me memorize the 50 U. S. states and capitals.
    Here’s the link. ⤵️

I hope this can help. 🙂

    Sincerely,
    Oliver

    1. I would just like to add something to my previous comment;

I think the class website blocks links for safety purposes. So, what you can do is google “Kids Learning Tube States” and the video should come up.
Also, if you need to memorize the presidents, the same channel has a song on the presidents as well, but it is hard to memorize.

      Sincerely,
      Oliver

  48. Dear Peers in trout,

    1. Mario,
I know this is a little late, and you’ve probably figured out the answer. But, if you haven’t, I can show you.
A grid is like a series of squares. Here’s an example. ⤵️
      ☐☐☐☐
☐☐☐☐ *On a real grid, the boxes would be connected on the tops and bottoms, but I couldn’t
☐☐☐☐ do that on a computer.

  49. Dear,Mr.miller
My thought about this year is that we get to learn more then we did in the past few years .

  50. Dear Mr.Miller, Question about the the paper that you gave us for the trip.

(I think you said this in class but) Are we going to use gloves, like the gloves that parents use to clean, or are we going to the winter gloves.

    (Answer question in class)

  51. Dear Mr.Miller,
So far I think the year is going wonderfully!! I wanted to let you know that you are a smart, and kind teacher. 👨‍🏫 The weeks are flying by so fast. I am excited for raising trout.
Ha sing a government in the class will be difficult and different. I know my times in this class will help me in my life. I thank you for helping us grow.
    Sincerely,
    Madilyn Hoiland

    1. Dear Madilyn,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and kind words regarding the school year and learning environment. I would certainly concur with the notion that the school year is moving at a swift pace. It is for that reason, that commitment and diligent efforts throughout the year are necessary to ensure students take advantage of every opportunity to grow as learners. Your decision to participate with the Trout in the Classroom initiative is an example of that dedication.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

Do not forget that we have our elections tomorrow. Be up for lunch-extra help. Good luck to all.
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Baptiste

    1. Dear Scholars,
I think we should have elections for our state on Monday, 11th 2016 in morning extra help .
Since it’s the 6th people will have more than enough time to prepare for there speech. I would suggest if u have a main position in the class you might not want to run because it might be hard to handle both jobs
      Sincerely,
      Elizabeth

  70. Dear Mr. Miller,
This is my rationale for Staples.
Staples is one of the companies that might have a low price, but is still doing well. This business is one of my three companies that I’m investing in. I am buying fifty shares of staples company which is not too much for the total purchase price. My rationale for investing in this company is because Staples is doing good and has a low price. I don’t just look at the price I look at their quality and work. I have been to Staples before and the store was always doing good. I trust Staples because it is a good company and a nice place to shop at.
    Sincerely,
    Olina

    1. Dear Olina,

Thank you for sharing the rationale for your prospective purchase. I would ask that you reflect on the feedback that follows: Your third sentence seems to be repeating the previous ideas in the paragraph. In addition, I would ask you to think of the type of comma you would introduce to sentence four.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

      1. Dear anybody,
Does anybody know how to find facts about soil because I have to research soil for Mr.Miller.So,if anybody knows how to get there please reply back. Thank you.

        sincerely,
        Ohm Patel

  71. Dear Mr. Miller,

I apologize that I forgot to put sincerely……. for each of my posts.

    Sincerely,
    Justin Schlendorf

  72. Dear Mr. Miller,

This will be my rationale for investing into Adobe Systems.

    Rationale:
Adobe Systems is not just a regular company, it is amazing. In its charts on how well the company is doing, it goes straight up. This is a great thing to have in a company. It is another great thing for me to know about my company that I am investing into, Adobe Systems. The information that is beneficial to me is that its price per share is $80.87, it is in the exchange of N.A.S.D.A.Q. , it has no dividend and is in the technology industry. This company is great for these reasons and much more.

  73. Dear Mr. Miller,

This is my math below for Adobe Systems. This is actually my third company, not B.M.W.

    Exchange: N.A.S.D.A.Q.
    PPS: $80.87
    Dividend: N/A
Adobe Systems is in the Technology industry.
    Commission: $109.17
    TPP: $3,748.32
    $ 80.87 $3,639.15 $3,639.15
    X 45 X .03 + $109.17
    ————- —————- —————
    3,639.15 $ 109.1745 $3,748.32

  74. Dear Mr. Miller,

This post will be my rationale on Microsoft.

    Rationale:
Companies are varied in similarity to each other, but Microsoft differentiates from every other business. This company set a decent amount per share which usually means it is a good company, and it is. It sells each share for $49.69. It is in the exchange of N.A.S.D.A.Q. and it is in the electronic industry. I feel a good company should make great products too. Microsoft makes electronics amazing, it works perfect and is sold at a decent price. All of these ideas make me believe that Microsoft is the best company to invest in.

  75. Dear Mr.Miller,

I haven’t received a chance to share my math and rationales for my second and third companies, Microsoft and B.M.W. I could only fit the math so I will send a couple more posts addressed to this idea.

    Microsoft:
    Exchange: N.A.S.D.A.Q.
    PPS: $49.69
    Dividend: 0.36
Microsoft is in the electronic industry.\
    SP: 25
    Commission: $148.98
    TPP: $1,391.23
    Math:

    49.69 $49.69 $1,242.25
    X 25 x .03 + $148.98
    ———– ———– ——————
    $1,242.25 $148.98 $1,391.23

    1. Dear Justin,
In your Microsoft structure you put ‘sp:25’. I don’t know what SP would stand for but, I think you made a mistake, and put SP instead of shares. To make sure this does not happen again read your work over to make sure there is no mistakes. Also since your on the final copy for stock market.
      Sincerely,
      Elizabeth Suda

  76. Dear Mr.Miller,

I have come upon trouble entering the Stock Market Game and would like your help tomorrow morning during extra-help.
    Sincerely,
    Justin Schlendorf

  77. Dear Peers,
I would like to show you my question for today!

    Yesterday,we were reading a document on cell theory,and I
have a question on it.The cell theory document was something cool to learn about, but it was review. My question is that What are spaces in a cork? Also, how did Robert Hooke find the cells in the cork? This was my writing on my cell theory document!
    Sincerely,
    Jenk Nouri

    1. Dear Jenk,
I would suggest to have a more interesting topic sentence to make your writing a more quality piece. Also to make a conclusion sentence but try to use something different then to conclude.
      Sincerely,
      Elizabeth

      1. Dear Elizabeth,
You said to use something different then to conclude, but I didn’t use to conclude so I think you should double check your feedback. Also you said “Also to make a conclusion sentence but try to use something different then to conclude. It doesn’t really make sense.
        Sincerely,
        Jenk Nouri

  78. Dear Mr. Miller and Peers,
For our daily question or comment I would like to present something that I have learned!
Learning is something that happens to you everyday, and I think it is very important. One thing that I learned was that you can weigh different on other planets. That task was valuable because it got me thinking about how scientists can figure out what the gravitational force on different planets. I will do some research on how scientists did there investigations to find out the different gravitational pulls of each planet. I will report back as soon as I acquire my results.
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Batiste

  79. Dear Peers,
I would like to show you my comment of today for what I’ve learned!

Mr.Miller has gave my class a comma worksheet, and after I worked on it I improved by a lot! This comma worksheet has turned me trying to remember to put a comma to it being a skill. Now whenever I write a sentence I’m allows putting the comma in the right spot now! Thanks to this document it has helped me a lot!
    Sincerely,
    Jenk Nouri

    1. Dear Jenk,
I liked how you put your fact that you learned from yesterday, but you have some mistakes. When you were saying that the comma worksheet has changed you from trying to remember to put a comma in to it being a skill, I think that you should of added “from” in your sentence right in between “me” and “turned”. In addition, in the sentence when you said “Now whenever I write a sentence I’m allows putting the comma in the right spot now.” were you trying to say “Now whenever I write a sentence it allows me to put the comma in the right spot.”?

      1. Dear Nick and Jenk,

I respect both of your efforts in the blog, I also think it’s a great thing that people are using the blog for many things. However, I would like to correct both of you on, the spelling of always. In both your paragraphs you spelt always as “allows”.

        1. Dear Class,

I would like to correct my last post in that I forgot to write “sincerely, Jacob.
          Best Regards,
          Jacob

      2. Dear Nick Barbieri,
I noticed that you made some mistakes in your last blog entry. First, at the beginning of your fourth sentence you started with a lower-case “w”, instead of an upper-case “w”. Also, you forgot to put sincerely, Nick Barbieri at the end of the blog entry.
        Sincerely,
        Anthony Jean-Baptiste

  80. Dear Mr.Miller,

Thomas Jefferson was a very interesting person and I learned lots of things about him. Such as before he died he had his tombstone made and he engraved his accomplishments into the tombstone. I found this interesting because he did not engrave that he was the third president of the United States and I think that is one of his greatest accomplishments. There are many more facts I know about Thomas Jefferson, but do you know any?

    Sincerely,

    Jordan Wade

  81. Dear Peers,
I would like to show you my rough draft of my learning target!

    Learning Target

These are two of my many learning targets I want to achieve this year.My learning target for my 5th grade class is to improve in math and science because they are my favorite subjects in school.I also chose them because they are really important subjects in life and school!Math and science are sometimes used together like in science to figure out problems to create an invention or a theory you would need to use math to help you in scientific problems. Well, as you can see I really want to improve in math and science this year!
    Sincerely,
    Jenk Nouri

  82. Dear Peers,

I would like to mostly inform Trout members but even if your not in the trout group I suggest you read this. If you search in ‘ Parts of a microscope’ you can print a sheet out and fill in the blanks to know parts of a microscope.( That document will be found if you click on ” parts of a microscope icon’.) Knowing the parts of the microscope will be useful because I believe soon we will use a microscope in class, so why not receive a head start to learning about a microscope and how to use it. This document will also be efficient to trout team members because just like today ( January 5th 2016) we observed trout under a microscope. I hope you find this document useful.

    Sincerely,

    Justin Schlendorf

    1. Dear Justin Schlendorf,
Thank you for the helpful information, and I will be sure to print out the document.
      Sincerely,
      Anthony Jean-Baptiste

  83. Dear Peers,
I have just wanted to say if you are in the Problem Solvers team Mini Elections are tomorrow.Wonder who will be leader!!
    Sincerely,
    Jenk Nouri

  84. Dear Peers,
I think that more people should get on the blog more. So in my free time I am going to try to ask people to get on the blog. I suggest to try to do the same, including the students in our E.L.A class. I would like to do this because I feel that more people should get on the blog and post a comment about something to show your diligence and writing skills. Also, about the students in the E.L.A class if they are getting on the blog, try to get them to post a comment to show that you get on the blog.
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Baptiste

    1. Dear Anthony,
Speaking of more E.L.A. peers getting on the blog, some E.L.A. peers are coming up for lunch and some are even joining trout! If they are going to join trout, they are going to have go on the blog, and the first time I went on the blog I was watching videos and looking at comments for at least 30 minutes. So they are probably going to do the same thing.
      Sincerely,
      Nick Barbieri

      1. Dear Nick,
I saw that the E.L.A kids came up for extra help, I also saw that Justin, and Elizabeth (e.t.c)were helping them post a comment. I posted the comment because I’ve looked on evry part of the blog to see if the E.L.A kids had posted a comment. Also, I wasn’t only referring to the E.L.A kids, I also spoke to two people to try to get on the blog they said that they get just don’t post, I said the way to prove that is by posting a comment. I hope that the people that I spoke to fallow my advice.
        Sincerely,
        Anthony Jean-Baptiste

      2. Dear Nick,
I know that the E.L.A kids came up to post but thank you for telling me
        Sincerely,
        Anthony Jean-Baptiste

    2. Dear MrMiller,
I know its not the perfect time to join trout but I am very interested in trout.I have wanted to join trout for awhile but I did not know if it was right for me.I have had fish for a long time and I have always helped my dad clean the tank.I think it would be very interesting to learn about the bacteria Ph that forms in the trout tank .If I can learn about trout and everything that forms in the tank if I get trout in the future I will already know all about the tank.

  85. Hi guys,
I love the videos that Mr.Miller put on the web site you should see them all.😀📚✏️📓

  86. Dear Mr. Miller,

Will the corrections for the quiz on atoms and engineering be due before or after the initiative?

    Sincerely,
    Sophia Salamone

  87. Dear Mr. Miller,
I would like to be one of the writers for the class paper. I would like to because it would help me write neater and help me write in script more fluently. It would also, increase my vocabulary, and would make me think harder before I write. Finally, it would force me to re-read more than three times, and when I’m re-reading it would make me look for more than does it make sense, does it have correct vocabulary, and does it have correct punctuation.
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Baptiste

  88. Dear Nick Barbieri and Peers,
Thank you for the wish of good luck and good luck to you that you win speaker of the house, and good luck to all peers.

    Nick barbieri

  90. Dear Mr. Miller,
Do you know when our next computer lab extra help is?
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Baptiste

  91. Dear Anthony,
In the text it said you will be reading about the 8 European explorers who came to the Americas. Anthony it says the Americas because there talking about the North America and the South America.
    Sincerely,
    Elizabeth Suda

    1. Dear Elizabeth,
When you wrote the response to the question I asked you forgot to put quotation marks at the beginning and end of the answer. You would need to quotations at the beginning and end of the answer because it came from the text, therefore, you would need quotations.
      Sincerely,
      Anthony Jean-Baptiste
      P.S.
      Thank you for the answer

  92. Dear Mr. Miller,
In the social studies text it said” in chapter 5 you read about eight European explores who came to the Americas”. Why dose the text say Americas?
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Baptiste

    1. Dear Anthony,
When you were asking your question I realized that you wrote does wrong, you wrote it dose.
      Sincerely,
      Nick Barbieri

  93. Dear peers,
I would just like to remind you guys that we have a complex quiz tomorrow on pages 73-79. I suggest that you reread and study those pages. Good luck!
    Sincerely,
    Nick Barbieri

  94. Dear Mr. Miller,
When we were going over the Three Branches of the U.S. Government before you said that if you didn’t finish the document to do it for homework, I did question five at the rug.
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Baptiste

  95. Dear Mr. Miller and Peers,
I would like to come in for extra help tomorrow to work on character traits. I suggest to come in if you need to work on character traits to come in or if you need additional help with anything else.
    Sincerely,
    Anthony Jean-Baptiste
    P.S.
Computer lab time stars at 8:30, and extra help starts at 8:00.

    1. Dear Anthony Jean-Baptiste,
When you were writing your P.S. note, you spelled starts wrong. You spelled stars instead of starts.
      Sincerely,
      Nick Barbieri

  96. Dear Mr. Miller,
I forgot my homework folder in the classroom, is there any way I can go on a scholastic news website or can I make it up in class?
    Sincerely,
    Nick Barbieri

    1. Dear Jordan Reyes Wade,
I noticed that in your comment you forgot to write a comma after “Sincerely”.
      Sincerely,
      Olina Zheng

  97. Dear peers,
I would like to show you a link I found to practice your math skills.

  98. Dear Mr. Miller,
You know how we have to go on Raz – kids each week. Are we aloud to change our robot and design our rocket. Or would we be only aloud to read and take tests.
    Sincerely,
    Olina

    1. Dear Mr. Miller,
I would like to present my character traits writing piece. Character traits are great aspects to have if you are part of history or not. Character traits are what makes you; you. If you are part of history you would plenty of character traits. Being a courageous person if you are part of history is a great achievement. It is a good character trait because if you have to go to court you need to have the courage win also you need to have fear to have courage and you might be fearful that you are not going to win, but if keep on believing in your self and showing courage you might just win. Showing courage is a great aspect to show. Courage can help you with many goals in life. As you can see, if you are part of history or not, being courageous and showing courage is a great character trait to have, even if it shows that you are a little scared.
      Sincerely,
      Anthony Jean-Baptiste

      1. Dear Mr. Miller and Peers,
In my character traits writing I made a few mistakes. First, I forgot to put to between courage and win. Second, I forgot need between would and plenty. Finally, I forgot to put a comma after win in the sentence when I said, if you are going to court you would need to have the courage to win, also you need to have fear to have courage.
        Sincerely,
        Anthony Jean-Baptiste

  99. Dear Mr. Miller:
I have a question, remember that you said that the plates
make earthquakes and volcanos, so how the plates makes tsunamis.
    Thank you for your colaboration.
    Sincerely,
    Xavier Piedra.

    1. Dear Xavier, I noticed when you asked your question you wrote ‘so how the plates make tsunamis’.The correct way to say the sentence would be ‘so how do the plates make tsunamis’.I also believe that I can answer your question. I think that the plates don’t cause tsunamis. I think that the earthquakes that plates cause, make the tsunamis happen. Sincerely, Anthony Jean-Baptiste

    2. Dear Mr.Miller, I would like to be someone to manage the sports games. I would like to join because it seems like a really fun job to have. I would also like to join because it would help increase my memory skills. Sincerely, Anthony Jean-Baptiste

  102. Dear Mr. Miller,
On the website I founded the page that was about Roanoke. There was a lot of facts that didn’t really make sence. Like there was this fact about queen Elizabeth giving Sir Walter Raleigh a charter. At first I didn’t know what charter means bit then I looked it up in the dictionary.Charter means to hire[as a bus or an aircraft]for temporary use.
    Sincerely,
    Olina Zheng

  103. Dear peers,
I would just like to remind you there is a quiz on geography. There might be a quiz on the pages we read the previous day in your science fusion text book.
    Sincerely,
    Elizabeth Suda

  104. Dear Mr.Miller,

Last week I was not able to post a comment on the blog,
so I would like to share my thoughts about how it went. I feel
I have learned a fantastic amount of information during E.L.A.,
like the words adhere and ascend. Adhere means to stick or
follow speaking figuratively. Ascend means to rise or go up.
I have also learned in math double division and I reviewed long
division. There is so many things I learned that I can’t share them all
    in this comment.

    Sincerely,
    Justin Schlendorf

  105. Dear Mr.Miller,
I found the answer to my question,”is Denmark part of Greenland?”. The answer is that Greenland is a province of Denmark.
    Sincerely,
    Nick Barbieri

  106. Dear,Mr. Miller
Today you asked me what gives glue it’s adhesive properties . I have done research and come up with an answer. My answer is adhesion . Adhesion is when liquid molecules stick to other types of molecules . This force force makes glue stick to objects such as paper, metal and wood .
    Sincerely, Jacob

  107. Dear Mr.Miller
Today was good and quick. I hope everyday is like this, this week. I also wanted to say that I would hopefully attend extra help more often. One more thing is that I will study hard for quizzes because I want to keep up my good scores.🙂

  130. Dear Mr.Miller I like how calm and collected we have been since we entered your classroom. I also like the experiments and optical illusions we have been doing. As I said in class I have a book on optical illusions, and I will try to bring it in sometime. Also I have been reading the comments/questions from your previous classes, and I saw that a boy wrote about Ernest Hemmingway’s 6 word novel “for sale baby shoes: never worn”. Aren’t we learning about him? Finally I also saw that someone mentioned something about a non-bully club. I was wondering if we are going to do that because I would totally go to that. Thank you for sharing your time.
    sincerely,
    Makayla Amatuegwu

  136. Dear Mr.Miller,

I was wondering if that when we finish our reasearch do we have to share it with all the students when they are done with reasearch.
    Sincerely,
    Kiara Prieto

    1. Dear Kiara,

When you conclude your research, you are required to present your information to the class.
(Make certain to use the appropriate punctuation when submitting a post.)

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  137. Dear Mr. Miller,

I was looking at a website about Ella Fitzgerald and her birth date was 1917, but on another website her birth date was1918. I am confused. Which date is it?

    Sincerely,

    Kali Denning

    1. Dear Kali,

In research it is best to check at least three sources. If two of the sources are in agreement, that would be the information you would tentatively use. As you continue to develop your research, you may find sources that provide more conclusive information.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  138. Dear Mr.Miller,

I found this video very helpful to me, but the treaty of Ghent part of the video left out a very valuable piece of information. Last night my dad looked up the word Ghent and it turns out it is a part of Belgium.

    Sincerely,
    Kali DEnning

  139. Dear Mr.Miller and my peers,

I found the two Louisiana Territory videos helpful and interesting. One thing that I learned is people suffered form diseases.

    Sincerely,
    Kiara Hansen

  140. Dear Mr.Miller,

I found these videos very helpful to me. I had know idea that in the Luis and Clark expedition that some of the people have suffered from many diseases. also did you know that Thomas J. offered 2 million dollars then he offered 10 million dollars?

    Sincerely,
    Kali Denning

  141. Dear fellow students,
I have a question on the solar system. The question is the way the planets are lined up today it that the way it came out of the big bang?

  142. Dear Mr.Miller

When I looked at the trout document it stated that the brook trout were part of the char family. Didn’t you state that the brook trout are part of the salmon family?

    Sincerely,
    Kali Denning

  143. Dear Mr.Miller
In the Fredrick Douglass brochure there is a discrepancy [conflict]. The brochure said in the timeline section that he was born in February 1818, but in the life under slavery section it states he was born in March 1818. I Googled him under Biography.com and PBS.org and found out it is February 1818.
    Sincerely, Kali Denning

  144. Dear Mr.Miller,
I was on Raz Kids and I was reading a book about immigration and I noticed that immigrate our ELA vocabulary word was in the book.

  145. Dear Mr. Miller,
When we talked about bullying during class I had a amazing idea. I thought to stop the bullying maybe I could make some posters for a non-bullying club I am creating. I was wondering if I can make some posters to hang up in school. Can I please talk to the principal about it? So please respond.

    Sincerely,
    Kali Denning

    1. Dear Kali,
I like the idea of the non-bullying club and it would be a good way to help prevent bully in this school. That was a great idea Kali !
      Sincerely,
      Gianna Sacco

      1. Dear Kali,
Your idea of a non-bullying club sounds very crucial to me. If one person gets bullied, they’d have a whole club to stand up to the bully! Along with speaking to the principal, you might also want to talk to Mr. Haugland about it.
        Sincerely,
        Sam

        1. Dear Sam,
I am going to prevent bullying at our school but the principal said I can not have the club in school because projects drive is the same thing. Thank you for supporting me though.

          Sincerely,
          Kali

      2. Dear Gianna,
The principal said no but the principal said I am their poster girl not the one where you hang up posters it is just an expression. It means
I prevent bullying in the school.

        Sincerely,
        Kali

  146. Dear Mr. Miller,
Today when I came home I read this book on Raz Kids all about how detectives solve crimes. Did you know that someone used a system by looking at finger prints? I also noticed that there was pictures of different finger prints and they had many different patterns. One was arched and one was looped. I do not know why we have these different types of patterns. Will you be explaining this when we learn about the human body? Sincerely, Kali Denning

  147. Dear Mr. Miller, I just looked at a photo in the economics link. I noticed that the image looked really old and a little blurry. I couldn’t tell what the people in the picture were doing. Do you know what the people are doing in the picture? Sincerely, your student Kali Denning

    1. Dear Kali,

The image you are referring to is that of Wall Street in the early 20th century. You can distinguish the subtle differences that exist between that image and the more recent photograph on the same page.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  148. Dear Mr.Miller,

I realized the I spelled Vinland wrong in my past comment.

    Sincerely,
    Isabelle Baginski

  149. Dear Mr.Miller,

When I was reading I found out that Leif Ericsson was Eric the red’s son.

    Sincerely,
    Isabelle Baginski

  150. Dear Mr.Miller,

I was on Raz Kids when I saw a book about Vikings in the book it said that a man named Eric the red discovered Greenland and in class we are learning about Leif Ericsson and how he discovered Vineland.
I think it’s like a chain first a viking discovered Greenland then a viking from Greenland discovered Vineland.

    Sincerely,
    Isabelle Baginski

P.S. The reason Eric the red has that name is because of his thick red hair.

  151. Dear Mr. Miller,
In class can you please print out the class account sheet? My computer can’t open the file. Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Samuel Lorenzo

  152. Dear fellow peers and Mr.Miller,

I was wondering how to print out the class account sheet? If you know
    how, please tell me.

    Sincerely,
    Kiara Hansen

    1. Dear Kiara,
I am not completely sure on how to print the class account sheet; my computer can’t open the file. I believe you have to press save and then press print. I’m sorry if I’m wrong
      Sincerely,
      Samuel Lorenzo

  153. Dear Kiara,

When you said that you received 138 drops of water on the penny, did you do anything different in your experiment? Can you please respond back I would like to know if you did something different or if you did exact same thing as Mr.Miller.
    Thanks.

    Sincerely,
    Isabelle Baginski

  154. Dear Mr.Miller,

The role that the surface tension played was that each time I started to drop the water on the penny again, I made sure it was completely dried with a towel. The only variables I used was to hold the needle at slightly different angels.

    Sincerely,
    Kiara Hansen

  155. Dear my fellow peers,

I did the penny experiment with my grandma and we got 138 drops on a heads up penny.we used my grandpa’s diabetic needle. Next I am going to try it on a tales up penny.

    Sincerely,
    Kiara Hansen

    1. Dear Kiara,

      Congratulations on your impressive results.

What role did surface tension play in your experiment ? In addition, I would be interested in the variables within your experiment that led to your results.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  156. Dear Mr.Miller, Today when I came home I watched the What Is A Flame video and I got more information about what creates a flame. Sincerly Kali Denning

  157. Dear Mr. Miller, The surface tension videos were very helpful. It is cool when in 0 gravity water turns into a flexible sphere.

  158. Dear , Mr. Miller

Today I check out all the math videos. I will like to participate in the flame challenge with all my peers.

    sincerely , Benjamin Katz

  159. Dear any of my peers, does anyone know how to get the video of the flame challenge up because, i would really like to watch it so please reply.

  160. Dear everybody in my cohort,
I like how we work together to get classwork done. Like Gianna said earlier, I think we will all will have a great year. I will see you tomorrow.
    Sincerely,
    Samuel Lorenzo

  161. Dear Mr. Miller,
I was wondering what you might need help with tomorrow in class like delivering things and helping my peers. Let me know so I can help with it.
    Sincerely,
    Julianna Tapler

  162. Dear Mr. Miller,
I wanted to ask you when you were talking about Ernest Hemmingway’s six word short story, were the words “for sale baby shoes: never worn”.

During dinner I looked it up and found those words.

    Sincerely,
    Darien

    1. Dear Darien,

I am impressed by your earnest attempt to discover more about the six word novel. Your research is correct; nice job.

      Sincerely,
      Mr. Miller

  163. Dear Mr.Miller,
I enjoy our class and how we work together. I think this will be a great year. See you tomorrow!
    Sincerely,
    Gianna Sacco
